Barwa Real Estate Company has organized a visit to Mustawdaat project in Umm Shahrain - northern Qatar, during which Mr. Salman bin Mohammed Al Mohannadi, Chief Executive Officer of Barwa Real Estate Group accompanied Mr. Fahad bin Rashid Al Kaabi, CEO of Economic Zones Company (Manateq) with a number of officials from both companies. The visit included a detailed presentation about the project by the project manager Eng. Abdallah Hajji, followed by a field tour in the work area where the latest construction developments were highlighted.

The development of this project has been awarded to Barwa Real Estate Company as one of four warehousing parks that have been awarded to a number of developers in 2015. Sponsored by Manateq, these projects offer an ideal solution for logistics activities and were awarded for the developers to run a (Build - Operate- Transfer) model, whereby the facility is designed, constructed, operated and maintained by a private partner. It will be subsequently transferred to Mantaeq following a 25-years concession period. The awarded developers will also oversee the management and operation of these Warehousing Parks.

Located in Umm-Shahrain, the project extends over a plot area of 500,000 square meters. Upon completion, it will provide four types of low-cost warehouses, including dry and air-conditioned warehouses and chilled warehouses as well as freezer warehouses on a total plot area of 259,446 square meters. The project, which will have a total built up area of 273,113 square meters, includes the construction of a residential compound for the employees, offices, 38 retail shops and a mosque, in addition to all the necessary infrastructure, including the construction of 13 substations, internal roads, loading and unloading areas and networks for potable water, fire, irrigation, sewage and their respective tanks. Furthermore, it will include surveillance cameras, pump rooms and security rooms

Mr. Al-Kaabi stressed the significance of Mustawdaat project as one of the warehousing areas, which Manateq is responsible for as it reflects the state's keenness to tackle all obstacles facing economic development and hence the idea of providing warehouse areas at affordable prices arises so as to contribute to support the private sector towards development and growth.

Al-Kaabi stated that the role of Mantaeq is based on supporting the private sector by providing a range of services and incentives for companies through establishing sustainable partnerships with investors, not only to help new local companies and small and medium enterprises find a place but also aims to encourage import substitution.

During his visit to the project, Al Kaabi commended Barwa Real Estate role as one of the most important national real estate developers and its many contributions in the real estate market. He also spoke favorably of the development of the project and stressed the commitment of Manateq Company to cooperate with the different developers to remove all obstacles they might face.

For his part, Mr. Salman Bin Mohammed Al Mohannadi, Chief Executive Officer of Barwa Real Estate Group, extended his gratitude to H.E. Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassem Al Thani, Minister of Economy and Commerce and Chairman of Manateq and also for Mr. Fahad Rashid Al Kaabi for their continuous support to Barwa during the project's development. Al Mohannadi stressed the Group's keenness to enhance partnership with Manateq and to achieve the highest levels possible. Al-Mohannadi also confirmed the near completion of the project and Barwa's keenness to fulfill that with the best quality.

Barwa Real Estate announced in May 2016 the award of the construction of Mustawdaat project to Qatar Building Engineering Company (QBEC). Eighty percent of the project's construction has been completed and it is expected to be fully completed in the third quarter of this year.

Mustawdaat project is considered one of Barwa's projects aiming at increasing coordination with the government to execute the necessary developmental real estate projects in light of Qatar National Vision 2030 and it also comes in line with Barwa's five year Business plan (2016-2020).
