Barwa Real Estate Group Launched Earth Week Campaign


"Doha – Qatar: 29 April 2013: Barwa Real Estate Group celebrated the International Earth Day which is being held on 22nd April every year, in a special one-week celebration started with the launch of the Earth Week Campaign and ended with the opening of “Baytna”, Qatar’s first Passivehaus.


Barwa launched its “Earth Week” campaign on Tuesday 16th April, for one week up to Monday 22nd April, the date of celebrating the International Earth Day. The campaign included a number of corporate activities alongside a local advertising campaign which aims to raise awareness on the importance of maintaining a sustainable environment. Through the Earth Week Campaign, Barwa stresses on its commitment towards the environment in its own unique way, as it advocates sustainability practices not only in construction techniques, moreover, in every aspect of the daily lives as individuals.

The Earth Day celebrations were launched in local newspapers and social media under the theme “let’s make every day an earth day”, to spread the culture of going environmental friendly. The campaign highlighted the dangers which our environment is facing and provided tips on how to prevent them. Those environmental highlights were also sent by SMS to tenants of Barwa residential projects to announce commencing celebrations.

On corporate level, environmentally friendly giveaways were distributed to employees and informative screensavers and wallpapers were launched to be displayed on employee’s PCs.

The closing of the Earth Week Campaign aligned with a significant environmental event which reaped appreciation and positive feedback in the green buildings industry, the opening of “Baytna”, the first Passivehaus and a landmark for Qatar’s construction industry. The opening ceremony was held in Barwa City, project location, in the presence of senior representatives from the Ministry of Environment, and from partner companies; Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC) and Kahramaa, in addition to more than 50 partners who were involved in constructing the villas and equipping them with green technologies."
