Barwa signs an agreement with Arab Engineering Bureau for designing Barwa Village expansion project

28/01/2015

With the increasing demand on commercial & residential units, Barwa Real Estate starts its expansion project for Barwa Village on AlWakra road and signs an agreement of collaboration with the Arab Engineering Bureau. Eng. Ahmad Abdulla Al Abdulla, Acting Group CEO of Barwa Real Estate, and Eng. Ibrahim Al Jaidah, CEO/ Chief Architect of Arab Engineering Bureau signed the agreement as per which the Arab Engineering Bureau will be providing the project with consultancy and design services.
The decision of expanding Barwa Village comes in response to business owners and tenants’ desire for Barwa to release more units with competitive rent value, especially after the rise in rents of both commercial & residential units which the real estate market is experiencing.

The increasing popularity of Barwa Village and its distinctive location on Wakra-Doha main road have also been reasons for the increasing demand of business owners and tenants to be part of the project. Being close to Hamad International Airport and the F-ring road, add up to those factors and give visitors easy access to the project.

Through the first phase of Barwa Village, the project offered 458 residential units and 918 commercial units, with amenities and services such as a school, a nursery, a hypermarket, an office building, a medical center, a fitness club and a mosque. The project now gathers a number of popular shopping stores which attracts shoppers from all over Qatar.

Works of Barwa Village expansion project will involve the development of an additional strip of land attached to the existing Barwa village with approximately 11,100 square meter plot into mixed-use buildings with retail, showroom and residential facilities; in addition to the development of some other vacant plots in Barwa village into retail units and showrooms, with a total covered area 12,500 square meters and total built up area of 32,491 square meters. The expansion will include a strip building consisting of ground floor and mezzanine offering commercial units, and first & second floors for residential units. Two plaza buildings will also be constructed, as well as a retail building and showrooms building, each of which will consist of ground floor and a mezzanine. The overall commercial component will offer a total of 119 shops and the residential component will offer 88 residential units that vary in size.

The Arab Engineering Bureau will provide the project with design and consultancy services during a period of 330 days as per the signed agreement. The construction works of the expansion project is expected to start on June 2015 until December 2016. This is the second collaboration with the Arab Engineering Bureau, after “Motor City” project.

The Expansion project of Barwa Village is part of a series of projects which Barwa is implementing in order to cover the need of commercial units of reasonable rent value. “Alaatedah” project which the group revealed late in 2014, is another example, as the project is set to release five buildings of retail units.
