BARWA Completes the Vocational & Field Training Programme for Engineering Students from Qatar University and Honors the Participating Students

BARWA Real Estate organized a ceremony for Engineering students at Qatar University, for completing their vocational and field training program which BARWA organized as part of its collaboration with Qatar University in the field of expertise sharing, scientific research and academic & professional cooperation.

 

BARWA team of engineers specialized in real estate development, provided an integrated vocational and field training program for Qatar University engineering students, which spanned over a month of fieldwork and intensive studies. The engineering students were briefed on all BARWA projects and the strategic approach that the group pursues in choosing its various investment and development opportunities, whether in relation to the group's land bank or its current and potential projects as part of the partnership between the public and private sectors. The program offered a detailed study during which engineering students looked into a variety of developmental opportunities for Lusail Land, the largest land currently owned by Barwa Real Estate and located in the northern part of Lusail City, extending over an area of 3.5 million square meters. The students also received field training in the Madinatuna project and Barahat Al Janoub project, accompanied by the project managers and the developmental teams from both projects.

 

Mr. Abdulla Bin Jobara Al Romaihi, Group CEO of Barwa Real Estate, welcomed Qatar University VIPs and handed over certificates of appreciation to the participating students. Mr. Al Romaihi expressed the importance of such collaborations in the field of vocational and field training, saying: "In BARWA we have significant experience in prudent fiscal management, careful project identification, timely execution, adherence to quality standards and cost efficiency. As the pioneers of this field at local and regional levels, we are committed to supporting and developing Qatari talents and calibers who will be building the future of Qatar. Every Qatari establishment must put their expertise into service through guiding the Qatari youth and supporting Qatar National Vision 2030 '.

 

Dr. Khalid Kamal Naji, Dean of the College of Engineering at Qatar University, also commented on the event. Dr. Naji said: "This collaboration is part of the memorandum of understanding which Qatar University signed with Barwa Real Estate recently. Under this MOU, BARWA is offering vocational and field training programs to train engineering students and support their integration into the workplace".

Dr. Naji added, "We thank Barwa Real Estate Group for the training programs granted to our students who studied the strategic approach adopted by the group in selecting its various investment and development opportunities. Moreover, they also conducted a detailed study on Lusail Land considering a variety of development options for the project. Such training programmes are significant for our students to help them advance their skills and have a great impact on diversifying their expertise, knowledge and skills".

 

It is worth noting that BARWA owns total assets of QR 31,950 million. Since its establishment in 2005 until now, the group released 3.6 million square meters of build-up area under operation, in projects varying from residential to commercial, industrial, logistical and mixed-use. This includes 8,129 residential units, 37,340 rooms for workers and 335,981 square meters of commercial and retail units, as well as 445,779 square meters of workshops and warehouses. Moreover, BARWA launched new projects which are expected to release 8 schools, 6,780 residential units and 16,848 rooms for workers by the year 2022.
