H.E. Mr. Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser Al Ali, Chairman of Barwa Real Estate Company made a visit to Madinat Al Mawater project in Rawdat Rashid, during which he was briefed on the progress of construction works, and he listened to a full explanation by the project manager on the project and its accomplished stages, in the presence of Mr. Salman bin Mohammed Al Mohannadi, Chief Executive Officer of Barwa Real Estate Group and a number of senior leaders of Barwa and its subsidiaries.
H.E. has indicated that Madinat Al Mawater will be one of the most prominent projects in the State of Qatar, where it will accommodate the largest number of car services and its spare parts as it contains car showrooms, repair and maintenance shops, car accessories shops and many other shops as well as residential accommodation for the workers.
H.E. has added that Madinat Al Mawater is one of the projects that comes in line with 2030 Vision with regard to the urban field. Chairman of the Board of Directors has expressed his admiration for the progress of work and his satisfaction with the completion of it ahead of schedule, stressing the State of Qatar keenness to support vital projects in the country.
For his part, Mr. Salman bin Mohammed Al-Hassan Al Mohannadi, Chief Executive Officer of Barwa Group stressed that the visit included a tour in the construction works area and an explanation of the operators of the project on what has been accomplished, and also the expected date of the completion of this large scale project. Mr. Al Mohannadi has confirmed that Barwa is keen to apply all standards of security and safety to the project so as to ensure the safety of the workforce in all its projects.
Located in Rawdat Rashid near Salwa road intersection, Madinat Al Mawater will be the main destination for all car- related services, including sale, purchase and maintenance of used-cars. Spanning over a land area of 1,150,000 square meters, it will provide used car showrooms, residential accommodations, workshops, in addition to a hotel, a motel and retail shops. It will also offer essential facilities and services such as offices for the Traffic Department and Civil Defense, banks, car insurance companies as well as a petrol station and checker service for the renewal of car licenses.
Madinat Al Mawater comes as one of Barwa Group's projects aiming to serve both community and economy of the state of Qatar. Barwa Real Estate will develop the project over the duration of four years to benefit from it through the BOT system (Build- Operate-Transfer) for 30 years.
Barwa announced last July 2016 the award of construction of phase one of the project to the Contractor INSHA Co. W.L.L. The contract value is QAR 99,850,000, with a construction duration of 12 months.
Phase one of the project has been completed on a land area of 215,677 square meters, including 60 car showrooms with a total area of 18,506 square meters and 176 residential apartments with a total area of 14,191 square meters, in addition to 10 commercial shops and workshops with a total area of 8066 square meters.
Furthermore, the project infrastructure works comprise of 3 electrical substations, internal connecting roads, networks for potable water, firefighting, irrigation, sewage and their respective tanks, as well as CCTV surveillance with a total build up area of 34,066 square meters.
Madinat Al Mawater project comes in line with Barwa's five- year Business Plan (2016-2020) which is considered the largest in the history of the Company. The Business plan is based on key goals, including focusing on the local market, collaborating with the government and making the most outcome of Barwa assets.
