"Under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Abdullah Bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Barwa Real Estate inaugurated yesterday AlKhor Workers Sports Complex in AlKhor Industrial Area.
The inauguration was attended by Eng. Abdulla Abdulaziz AlSubaie, CEO of Barwa Real Estate and Eng. Ahmad Abdulla Al Abdulla, Deputy CEO of Barwa Real Estate, and representatives from Supreme Committee of Delivery & Legacy and Qatar Foundations, sponsors of the project, along with a number of AlKhor residents.
AlKhor Workers Sports Complex is another project designed and developed by Barwa Real Estate in partnership with the Supreme Committee of Delivery & Legacy and Qatar Foundations. The project opened its doors to visitors for the first time yesterday Monday 10th Feb 2014, one day prior to Qatar National Sports Day.
The inauguration made a start with a welcoming speech and a presentation by Eng. Abdulla Abdulaziz AlSubaie, CEO of Barwa Real Estate, after which H.E. Dr. Abdullah Bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, Minister of Labour and Social Affairs cut the ribbon announcing the official opening of AlKhor Workers Sports Complex, followed by a tour around the project for VIPs and guests.
The project offers spaces for sports activities serving workers community in Al Khor & Al Shamal cities. The inauguration which accompanied the celebrations of Qatar National Sports day will mark the opening of phase one of the project facilities which offers sporting spaces for football, cricket, volleyball and basketball, shops to sell food & beverages, as well as other facilities to serve the users of the project.
Al Khor Workers Sports Complex is a continuation of Barwa’s aspirations to achieve sustainable growth through an investment beyond real estate, it’s the investment in building a solid community. Barwa believes that the path to creating a more solid community requires wider initiatives which are in demand within the community and which play a role in improving the lives of the people of Qatar. In line with Qatar Vision 2030, Al Khor Workers Sports Complex is being developed by Barwa among other projects which tackle the needs of workers in Qatar, one of which is Barwa Al Baraha, an integrated city for workers gathering residential units and facilities and a huge truck park. The project extends on an area of 1.8 million square meters and expected to accommodate 53,000 workers and professionals. In addition to the overall efforts Barwa dedicates in order to implement safety & security measures in its day-to-day activities to ensure the well-being of workers in its developments."
