"Barwa Real Estate Group hosted yesterday a visit for H.E. Dr. Abdullah Bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, Minister of Labour and Social Affairs to Barwa Al Baraha project in Industrial Area. Eng. Abdulla Abdulaziz AlSubaie, CEO of Barwa Real Estate and Eng. Ahmad Abdulla Al Abdulla, Deputy CEO of Barwa Real Estate, accompanied H.E. Dr. Al Khulaifi during the visit which shed light on the progress made in the project.
The visit started with a welcoming speech and a presentation by project Engineer Abdulla Hiji, followed by a tour around the project for VIPs, media representatives and guests.
Barwa Al Baraha is the largest developmental project which Barwa constructs in favor of workers in Qatar. This is a commitment towards building a solid society where its different social categories live in harmony, achieved by shrinking the social differences and raising the standards of living for those with little income. Barwa Al Baraha offers all necessities of daily life. It extends over approximately 1.8 million square meters, with capacity of 53,000 workers. The project is being developed into two phases, phase one which is now complete provides Qatar’s largest truck and vehicle parking space, with 4200 parking spaces for trucks of different sizes. The fees for the parking spaces will be very reasonable, QR15 per exit. Discounts will be provided to those with monthly subscriptions with the first six months offered for free. Barwa Al Baraha truck park is a contribution from Barwa to limit the rising issue of trucks parking in the middle of residential areas.
The second phase of Barwa Al Baraha offers workers accommodation, as it provides 64 residential buildings for workers, each gathering 130 rooms. It will also provide 16 residential buildings for junior & senior staff each gathering 97 rooms. Barwa Al Baraha gathers all needed facilities for residents including sports facilities, a shopping mall, restaurants, a medical centre and public spaces.
Barwa Real Estate fosters the philosophy of community integration, which has drawn the guidelines according to which the group selects development opportunities, illustrating an investment beyond real estate. Barwa applies its strategic approach by studying the different categories of the Qatari society, and developing its business strategy accordingly. The group implements its strategy through targeting different social categories with services that address their needs. Based on that, the group was drawn towards a new direction which identifies workers as a priority.
The services and projects aimed at migrant workers in Qatar does not go in parallel with the growth in their numbers, nor with the important role they play in the urban development of Qatar today. Hence, Barwa is now utilizing its capabilities to focus on projects for workers, such as Al Khor Workers Sports Facilities which the group launched earlier this month sharing the same ambitions of Barwa Al Baraha."
