The Annual Competition of Barwa Toastmasters International

The Annual Competition of Barwa Toastmasters International

"Barwa Toastmasters International Club organised the Annual Competition 2013-2014 in Barwa Headquarters. The high level intellectual competition meant to test the competencies toastmasters could accomplish so far through the toastmasters club meetings. Eng. Abdullah Al Subaie – President of Barwa Toastmasters International said: “the club which was established in 2013 is the second Arabic toastmasters club in Qatar. It aims to train participants on public speech and leadership skills. The fears of public speech will only go away with more training, by attending the Toastmasters club meetings and practicing in front of a real audience. That’s why Barwa Toastmasters International was established”.
Toastmasters’ slogans such as “we learn through actions” and “we build leaders” imply that enhancing leadership and communication skills is the key to success whether corporate or individual.  The club helps participants to gain other skills such as improvised speeches, time management, expressing thoughts, controlling body language, listening and evaluation. Eng. Al Subaie pointed out that the competition among participants was tough yet it was fun as well.
Eng. Al Subaie, Counsellor Adel Abdulghani and Mr. Ashraf AlMulla were among judging panel, in addition to judges from outside Barwa Group, Mr. Essam Alama and Mr. Akram Hamad. Toastmaster Rehab Sharif won first place as Best Speaker, followed by Toastmaster Fathiya Al Muhannadi in second place, and Nasir Omar in third place. Toastmaster Mahmoud Saeed won the Best Humour Speech and Toastmaster Hind Abdulmalik won Best Evaluator. On 4th April contestants will move to another higher level competition."
