"Barwa Real Estate celebrated on Thursday 1st May 2014, the annual International Labors Day by organizing a football championship among Barwa employees and the workers of its project “ AlKhor Sports Complex for Workers”. The activity comes as part of Barwa social responsibility campaign titled “Moqadereen”, which is an Arabic word for appreciation and gratitude.
The annual celebration aims to extend thanks and appreciation for workers and employees of different social categories for their efforts building the future of Qatar. Barwa therefore could find the perfect way to convey its message of respect by merging between its boss, employees and workers through an activity as fun and vibrant as the football championship.
The activity was organized by volunteers from Barwa staff members and took place at Al Khor Sports Complex for Workers, due to the strategic importance of this specific project which provides an integrated leisure-based community for recreation and sports activities. The project consists of 4 Crickets fields, 4 Football fields, 3 Volleyball fields, 4 basketball fields, 4 Kabaddi fields; in addition to other sufficient amenities.
Eng. Ahmad Abdulla AlAbdulla, Director of Group Real Estate Development & Asset Management at Barwa, addressed workers on this occasion with words full of appreciation for their endless efforts and their significant contribution to Qatar renaissance. Eng. AlAbdulla distributed giveaways to workers who attended the activity and took some pictures with the group.
Barwa respects and values the individuality and diversity that every worker brings to the business; as the group seeks to create an
environment of Mutual Respect, Transparency and Teamwork. All of this is part of the bigger picture, a corporate strategy that aims to achieve sustainable growth through building a solid society where its different social categories live in harmony, achieved by shrinking the social differences.
Barwa is also keen to address workers community through its different project and activities and spread the principals and ethics which draw the lines for positive interaction with workers. The services and projects aimed at workers in Qatar does not go in parallel with the growth in their numbers, nor with the important role they play in the urban development of Qatar today. Hence, Barwa is now utilizing its capabilities to focus on projects for workers such as Al Khor Sports Complex and Barwa Al Baraha (workers accommodation) which is built with a capacity to accommodate 53,000 workers."
