Barwa Signs an agreement with the Ministry of Municipality to develop "Madinat AlMawater" project

"Barwa Real Estate Group held a press conference yesterday in its headquarters in Barwa Al Sadd to announce signing its latest agreement with the Ministry of Municipality & Urban Planning in Qatar. Under this signed agreement Barwa will rent a land extending over 1,150,000 square meters, located in Rawdat Rashid near Salwa Road, to develop and run a distinctive project offering used-vehicles services.

 
On this occasion, Barwa Real Estate, represented in Chairman, members of the Board of Directors and Group Acting CEO, extended sincere thanks and appreciation to H.H Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, H.E. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Al Thani, The Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, and the government of Qatar, for their support and faith in the capabilities of Barwa to develop such a unique project.
The project will provide showrooms which cover the current and future need of the country; and will provide a wide range of used-cars services, car workshops, maintenance centres, and warehouses for used cars as well as rent-a-car services.
More services such as offices for Traffic Department, Technical Testing, offices for Ministry of Interior, Civil Defence, Ministry of Municipality, banks and car insurance office will also be available at the location. Moreover, the project will contain commercial units, a hotel, staff accommodation for families, workers accommodation, a driving school, in addition to other necessary facilities. 
An advanced electronic system will be used to connect cars data to Hukoomi website and consequently connect this data to the Ministry of Interior. This system will be available for download on different mediums, websites and smart phones. Additionally, the project will offer a race track, in addition to a number of sports activities.
The project, which will be called “Motor City”, comes under Barwa Real Estate’s social and economic contributions to the Qatari Society as it will enable young merchants to start their businesses using commercial units with encouraging prices. Barwa Real Estate will develop the project over 4 years divided into three phases, the details and budget of which will be revealed later on after signing the consultancy agreement for the project and after approving the final proposal of the project by all relevant bodies. The group will benefit from the project through the BOT system (build – operate – transfer) for 30 years."
