Commitment To The Community
Barwa is not only a key player in Qatar's emergence as a vibrant investment hub with a progressive long-term outlook, but the group also plays an essential role serving the local community at all levels.
Barwa's legacy lies in its determination to create and sustain a strong sense of community through its investments and iconic portfolio of projects, which range from world-class business hubs through to affordable community housing.
Barwa's Masaken Mesaimeer and Masaken Al Sailiya projects illustrate the group's commitment towards the community and Qatar's inspirational development plans. Set on two separate sites, Masaken Al Mesaimeer and Masaken Al Sailiya projects provide 62 residential buildings containing approximately 2,000 residential units.
Measuring 1.8 million square meters is the group's Barwa Al Baraha project which is designed to serve as an integrated workers' city. Phase one of the project has been fully completed and currently operational. It consistes of 64 premises and accommodates 50,000 workers and technicians.
Moreover, One of Barwa's most prominent social initiatives that serves the sector of workers is the yearly program Barwa organizes in collaboration with The Interior Ministry. Started mid-2016, the program includes weekly sports and entrainment events in Al Khor Workers Sports Complex which is another project Barwa has developed for the workers. The total number of the visitors exceeded 500,000 during 2016.
As for Safety and Security activities, Barwa has signed an agreement with the Civil Defense Department in year 2013 to support their program "The Safe House". Aiming at raising awareness of the public on safety and prevention requirements, the program provides a media awareness car equipped with screens, educational movies and specialized library to target the public crowds during national celebrations and provide them with the necessary safety training.
